Fedon A. Lindberg is probably the most well known, or should I say "famous" Greek in Norway. He has been living and working here as a doctor since he was 24 years old, apart from two years spent in the USA. He has written several books about health & slimming, and has been in the media very often over the last few years. This time he has written a book about Greece, Greek food, culture and history. "I will show you how lifestyle, food and health are connected." "How can traditional Greek food, wine, olive oil and a more relaxed attitude to life, prevent illness and strengthen health?" "How do you make exciting modern Greek food?" "Recipes on food, health and enjoyment are plentiful" This is a book full of detailed recipes for delicious food, a good Greek wine guide as well as information about Greek history and culture. The pictures and the layout are inspiring. A nice book to receive, and a brilliant book to all the many fans of Greek cuisine and of course the country itself. |

This is actually the first guide book I have ever seen that also includes a free CD with website
links, information, pictures and music - a nice bonus. If you look at the contents of the book you will find nicely presented information about the countries background, first steps, what to see, getting away, maps, walks, tours and last but not least, a features section that includes information about volcanoes, mosques, fishermen and boatbuilders, traditional costume, island flowers and wildlife. The book is nicely illustrated with good maps and photographs. |

This is a book full of 'atmosphere', and good descriptions covering 40 islands and Athens.
It contains some very good articles about "Travelling with children", Greek language, history, literature and so on.
The book has 304 pages without any photographs but it does contain some simple island maps. Whilst this may be unusual for some,
I have read about places that I have visited myself and they are described extremely well
with good and accurate information. Unfortunately it has not been translated into English, so this is a book for Scandinavian speaking people. |

This is a highly visual encyclopedic guidebook with more than 700 colour
photographs and very well presented information about the islands and Athens.
The book has a very nice layout and good maps. What I really liked about
this book was the unique floorplans that help you to explore public buildings
and ancient landmarks. It's a book that is easy to use and has practical advice as well as special features on history, art, architecture and so on.. |

The essential little guide for charter tourists. The book gives basic information
about the history of Crete, it's people, and places of interest.
It includes some suggestions about good restaurants and cafés.
It also contains a nice section on entertainment and nightlife.
There is some "limited" practical information covering things to do before
you travel, and on things like car hire, speed limits and so on.
For those who have limited time, there is a "top 10" list of suggestions
for places that you really should visit while on Crete

This book has very much the same structure and quality as "God tur til Kreta", but covers
many of the Greek islands. Because of the books size, it only provides a very short description
of each of the islands. It does however manage to give quite a good overview with these
short descriptions.
This is a good book for those who are considering "island strolling"
and just want to get a basic feel for which of the islands they might want to include
on their holiday.
There is also a "top 10" list of islands to visit (in the authors opinion).

This book is sold all over the island of Alonnisos, it is an excellent book.
It includes tours of both short and long durations, together with maps.
It also contains some wonderful watercolour illustrations from Bente Keller.
We have tried some of the walks, and the directions were, for the most part,
easy to follow. We did however find one walk where the instructions were not
so clear. Remember to read the book carefully.
The creators of this book, Elias Tsoukanas (Alonnisos) and Bente Keller (Denmark) are married and live permanently in Alonnisos. The inspiration for this book came from hiking in the hills during the winter. Elias is a former seaman and restaurateur, and Bente was a high school teacher, educated in Human Physiology (Gymnastics) and Greek Philology at Copenhagen University. They now run the "Gallery 5" art shop in the old village, Palia Alonnisos. |
