Eva Bratholm is a well-known journalist who has been working for NRK (Norwegian Broadcasting), as well as Norwegian newspapers.
She lives in NYC and works as a correspondent for "Dagbladet".
Eva Bratholm states in the introduction that her book "is meant as an inspiration to read and to travel". And that is exactly what I felt after reading her book.
I read the book before visiting NYC, and I got a real feel for Manhattan, Harlem, Brooklyn and East Village etc. where some of the famous writers lived their lives.
The author is also sharing her own experiences from some of the many places she has been visiting. This all serves to make the book more personal and nothing like the average guidebook!
I also very much liked the layout and the photographs!
This is a book that I highly recommend not only to be read by Scandinavians, but also a book that hopefully will be translated into English….

Eva Bratholm has managed to capture the pulse of metropolitan New York.
That can be tough enough. Especially if you lock yourself out in the middle of night
wearing only a t-shirt, or your son is picked up by the police or when you have to chase rats in your own house.
For three years now, the correspondent from "Dagbladet", Eva Bratholm, has been wandering between skyscrapers and people from all over the world.
The book is humorously illustrated by Karine Haaland.
The author has done it once again, an interesting book to read.
Eva Bratholm manages to describe the strange situations that occur around her in a precise and often hilarious manner that is highly entertaining.
