This is an unusual book that gave me a huge dip into exciting and interesting travelogues from some famous and award winning travel writers.
It describes the route from the orthodox part of Europe, via the Middle East through the Silkroad to Mongolia, China and Japan.
Crossing the mountains in Lebanon along the Turkish coast and visiting places including Kashmer and Samarkand.
This anthology is represented by; William Dalrymple, Paul Theroux, Colin Thubron,
Robert Byron, Tim Severin, Peter Fleming, Fitzroy Maclean, Heinrich Harrer, Pico Iyer, Philip Marsden, Göran Schildt, Patricia Storace, Alexei Sayle, Geoffrey Moorhouse, Wilfred Skrede, Rory Maclean, Stanley Stewart and Alex Kerr.
This is a book that I really enjoyed reading. It opened my eyes and mind to a style of travel book that is new and interesting for me. The stories reminded me of a very different culture and history.
A way to travel, that most of us never experience, but filled with so many well written stories and knowledge that you feel like you take part in the journey.
A nice book to receive and a nice book to give to anyone who likes travelling.

This is a book that is translated into 20 languages, and has sold more than 4 million copies.
It is an extremly funny book, and even those who are scared of flying will have to laugh!!!
The book includes "wisdom" on such things as,
How to crash-land a plane on the water.
How to jump from roof to roof.
How to survive when you are lost in the jungle.
How to avoid being abducted by aliens.
How to stop a running horse.
How to survive a volcanic erruption.
Or what about reading about how to cross a river full of piranha?
It includes what to do,-but also what not to do....
